our wedding // the ceremony

our wedding ceremony was everything that we hoped for and more. let me start by saying that the single most stressful part of planning our wedding was hoping and praying that God would give us a beautiful, sunny june 2nd. He didn't fail us. the weather was perfection, and so we were able to hold our ceremony at luke's childhood home in big lake, mn. his parents put in so much hard work to make the yard look green and lush, and it was honestly perfect. we couldn't have asked for a better ceremony venue.

in addition, luke and i felt that our ceremony was so personal and so very us. we wanted to keep it short and sweet and make several changes to a traditional ceremony, while still keeping some traditions. our officiant was the best, and he really helped us to do just that. luke and i both chose our favorite poems, and then we chose a verse from song of soloman. we had three of our very favorite people (luke's sister, my uncle, and our amazing friend ali) read them, and having them be a part of our ceremony was so special.

one of luke's only requests in the planning process was that we have a classical guitarist for our ceremony, and it truly was the best choice for us. it was so romantic and laid-back all at the same time. this was another way that we were able to choose just what we wanted for our ceremony.

i absolutely love this candid of my grandmother, zora. her style is to die for, and so many people told me that she was just the cutest. :)

my favorite part of the ceremony (ok, other than the kiss...duh) was that we had our marriage certificate signed during it by our witnesses. i feel like so often the marriage certificate is really just forgotten about and it loses it's importance when it's just rushed to be signed afterwards. it really was so special to watch two people that we love so much, sign a form saying that they've witnessed our love and our marriage. it was truly beautiful and something luke and i will always cherish.

in this next picture you will witness the ridiculousness that is karma. after what luke would call "lecturing" over and over that he be sure to put the ring on the right hand and finger, i put his on his pinky. yes, ladies and gentlemen, his pinky. i messed up. it was so funny and really just helped keep with our casual vibe for the rest of the evening. don't fret over these things. if at the end of the day you're married to your best friend, than the day when perfectly. i'm just so happy to have this image to always remember the little moments of our day.
