if you're ever in west virginia in the month of october, there are several places that are just perfect this time of year. my best friends from minnesota are in town visiting us this week, and we spent the afternoon yesterday touring the trans-allegheny lunatic asylum, which is said to be haunted, and was by far one of the creepiest (yet coolest) places i've ever been.
we had first heard about this place on ghost adventures, and when we learned that it was a mere hour drive from morgantown, we knew it'd be the perfect thing to do when they were here visiting! the whole town of weston, wv, which is where the asylum is located is rich in west virginia history, and we learned a little bit about it on our historical tour. they also offer ghost tours, flashlight tours, and overnight ghost hunting excursions.
who doesn't love to be a little creeped out this time of year?
