honeymoon in mexico // pt. 1

i'm finally back! let me just tell you all that this past month has been the happiest that i've ever experienced in my entire life. even with all of the craziness that goes with planning a wedding, i wouldn't trade any bit of it for anything. the most incredible thing is that it all went so fast. i can't tell you how many married people told me that the day of your wedding will be the quickest in your life, and it is seriously true. we were blessed with the perfect sunny day for our outdoor wedding and everything went off without a hitch. i'll post wedding pictures as soon as i've got them from our photographer. i am so antsy to get them because i have 100% faith in my photographer that they're going to be ah-mazing!

ok, so on to what this post is really about. we left for our honeymoon last monday (two days after our wedding day) for riviera maya, mexico. the first day was a major bummer because luke got what we're guessing was food poisoning from food he'd eaten on the way to the airport, so the entire afternoon and evening was spent in our room once we arrived because my new husband was so sick. we were really worried that it would last the entire trip, but luckily my new hubby is a trooper and was feeling better by midday on the second day there.

the resort was beautiful, and we were lucky enough to be staying in a place that we were familiar with being that it was luke's parent's timeshare. we spent the majority of the beginning of our trip laying on the beach in the shade (let me remind you, we're minnesotans --- minnesotans don't tan easily. haha). we slathered on the sunscreen and both of us managed to avoid any burns on the whole trip. yay!
