Feature: Pastels and Peaches

I recently found out that a friend of mine started an etsy shop of her own. Her name is Gina, and she is just about the sweetest and most caring girl I've ever met. We went to school together, and I was so excited to ask her if I could do a little feature about her. She makes some of the most amazing and adorable dresses. I would love to get my hands on one, and definitely plan to do so in the near future. Here goes! Meet Gina:

What is the name and link of your site, and when did you open it?
name of my brand/products='pastels and peaches'
the link to my site: http://pastelsandpeaches.etsy.com
I opened my store on etsy in mid February, i'm a new seller to the site and i couldn't be more excited to have my small shop through etsy, and to create & share more items! There are tons of inspirational & talented artists on that site it is fun to be a part of it.

What jump started your passion for fashion design and dress making?
Ever since i was just a little tike my mom has always been sewing quilts, clothes, pillows, ect for my family. As well as gardening and showing me how to create and make my own items. It has really stuck with me and has become a growing passion of mine. I adore collecting odds & ends from antique stores and boutiques. I'm all about supporting handmade, hand-sewn, and homegrown goods. I'm always sketching ideas in my journal for creating new items. Sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night and run to my colored pencils & sketchbook with new ideas flowing!

Where do you get your inspiration from? Are there any specific fashion designers that you look to?
I love getting inspired by things around me, and I absolutely melt when i go small boutiques, antique stores, and thrift stores. My favorite fashion designers/labels that have inspired a lot of my work are the following:
Manoush, Temperley London, Kate Spade, Chris Benz, Betsey Johnson, Liberty of London, Free People, JCREW, and the poppy collection (by:Coach).
...they are all very colorful, feminine, fun, floral, happy, and very detail oriented!

Which dress that you've made is your favorite (so far)?

i sew dresses, skirts, blouses, and i'm most recently getting into fun interior design stuff such as colorful/ruffled pillows and quilts. i like to make things that really pop in color and brighten up my day! My most favorite dress that i have sewn thus far is my yellow ruffle dress for my small spring floral collection!
